WOW !!! Plasma Prices Plunged !!

2193 Views 14 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  cheridave
Wow...just back from CC.....looks like that long-awaited drop in plasmas snuck up on me. All the 42" plasmas I normally look at were all 25% lower, the LG's, Philips, and Panasonics.

I had last checked prices about 2-3 weeks ago, did anybody else notice this?

The dollar has been weak of late, usually that prevents domestic price cuts as foreign manufacturers want more $$$ when converted back to their home currency.

Only thing I can think of is new designs (like Ambilight 2 for Philips) that are coming out soon (June ??) and they want to clear out the older models.

Thoughts ?

i think it's a mother's day sale.. i bought a 42"panny and i think it was like 150 lower than normal.. not 25% for sure.. unless the prices dropped today.
Nope, I've been too busy enjoying my plasma. :D

If you shop the Forum Alliance Members (and the text Alliance Members as well) instead of the big box stores, you'll probably find better service and prices that at the very least, match what you'll see there.
What gets me is....I just looked on my companys website (quite a large coorporation) and we receive discounts on many items. Well, just noticed that Panasonic was added. Now, I can get the new 50 incher for what I paid for my 42 inch ED a lil over a year ago. Talk about being sick at your stomach!!!

Thats fine though, I'm guessing around this time next year the 42 incher will be moved to the bedroom to make way for the 50....or larger :D
I would be more happy if they lower the gas price down to 99cents/gal... That would be more saving money than reduced plasma prices.

This is a clear-cut 25% from a few weeks ago, and certainly 2 months ago when I was checking a few times a week.

The Panasonic 42" (top-of-the-line) is now 10-15% BELOW what I saw the Philips 42" at that time. Those were my top 2 picks then and the Panny was at a bout a 10% premium for the same size. Now, it's still at a 10% premium but the price is over 10% lower than where the Philips was earlier this year.

I must admit about the service part, not that everyone does not make mistakes. I went to a job yesterday to install a 32" LCD bought from CC. The TV was a Polariod and the mount was a Omni-UCL Canaliver Mount. Alot of times with these mounts a plate is needed to aligain the holes. I was told everything was there and it was going to be a quick hang. Not, no plate and the TV was not installed.

Unless your friend has a different epp price than the rest of us eppers, your price is wrong. I guess anything is possible though (with respect to a different epp program).
Yeah he works for panasonic and get's it through there employee purchase program store. Shipping is 150.00 though, plus tax.
When I went to get my Panny Plasma at Best Buy it was on sale and it I believe it wasn't even marked in the flyer. It ended up saving me like $200 if not more.
the panny 65" at costco online, its price still the same :(
