I'm looking to buy a HD/RPTV this fall (it's the right time for me), but wonder whether this is the worst possible time with the emergence of DLP and LCD technologies. Will the 2003 model year have good sets at RPTV prices that don't rely on CRTs, don't weigh a ton, and look as good or better? Is next year the breakout year for these technologies?

Opinions appreciated.

Gee, I hope not, I just bought a Mitsubishi 65" Diamond!

Emerging technologies are usually more expensive and more prone to bugs/failures/etc. I think that the current batch of RPTVs are probably the best bang for the buck.

Of course with HDTV, I'm kind of figuring that the useful life of my new TV will be only about five years anyway.
