X-Men 3: The Last Straw...I mean, Stand

This may very well be the worst sequel of all time to follow in the footsteps of the most disappointing series of all time. Why did they even call these movies "X-Men"? What was the point?

What we should have gotten was a dynamic and fulfilling look at some of the most diverse and fascinating characters ever created. What we got was Wolverine Saves the Day, I, II, and III. Whoopie. A guy with big fingernails and a puny brain defeats everyone yet again. Thanks. Been there, done that 2 times too many already.

Oooh, Halle Barry with a new hairdo. Yay. Lots and lots of mutants with about 10 special powers total; Porquipine Guy, Speed Girl, Helmet Head, Angel Boy, MetalHead Mario, Invisi-Girl, and, ummm....who cares? Anyone that had anything good or original has been written out or killed off to make room for "The Human BackScratcher" and his cool sideburns. Sad. :(

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) Spoiler
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) And let's not forget about "The Firey Bird". Level 5! Whoo-hoo! Look out, she gets horny and destroys everything in her path. Tell me again how someone that creates a small anti-matter/fire storm is more powerful than someone that can kill every mutant or human on the planet with just a thought? Get real. Oh, and she's more than willing to kill her husband, but "Scratchy" gives her the puppy-dog eyes and she melts like butter? Yeah, that's the ticket.

I will give the movie props for SQ. Hooray! You can hear in detail every inane and vomitous word in all its ridiculous glory. Too bad the PQ is so distracting you forget this is a new DVD and not a VHS copy from the library that's been watched 10,000 times. Soft is good for blankets, not films.

But wait...there's more! For only $17.99, and if you buy in the next 20 minutes, we'll throw in, absolutely free, 10 "ultimate endings"! See such dramatic changes as Storm's hair being 1/2" shorter! Watch in amazement as "Nails" drinks a beer! Prepare to be shocked by glove-wearing! Catch your breath as you witness 1.3 second of extra film! Call now, don't delay!

Thankfully, it's all over. I would only watch X-Men 4: Meg, the Wolverine Dies While Picking Nose, if Seth MacFarlane was given the rights to write and direct the film. Long live the Super Griffens! Giggity-Giggity-Gone! :D

Sorry to break this to you, but there is a strong internet rumor of a Wolverine and/or Magneto movie in the works.

Oh, and the DTS-ES track is one of the best ever IMO.
The chances of X-Men 3 being good was about the same as seeing a post from spyder696969 that has a positive vibe. :D
I said this in the other thread but I'll say it again:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) Spoiler
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) If that kid's ability was to dampen mutant powers why didn't they just walk him over next to Jean and shut her down? I think they all actually thought of that but actually Wolverine just wanted to kill her. Hell, they could have just stuck her with one of those antidote syringes. Geeze.

I'd love to spew more about this stupid movie but I'm too tired.
i saw this one at the theater and have a little knowledge of the xmen series.

in response to the post above me --

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) Spoiler
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) jean grey is possessed by the phoenix, which is an alien creature/lifeform...the kid wouldn't be able to do squat to her

That's good to know at least, but the movie doesn't get a pass. :p
I thought it was pretty good... right up until...
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) Spoiler
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) The professor "dies" (make sure you watch past the end of the credits...)

Then it went down hill fast eventually falling into a blackhole of silly dialogue and plotholes big enough to put... say... a bridge through.

I think when Patrick Steward left the set everyone except Ian McKellan forgot how to act, and they lost the script and had to make it all up on the spot. Who's line is it anyway - but with mutants - and no funny.

Very funny read. I have to agree with you on this one. X-Men 1 was good. However X-men 2 and 3 really should have gone in totally different directions. I have to say Superman Returns and X-Men 3 have to be the worst overall superhero films of all time.. I wonder who directed them.. hmm..maybe they should get a new director...

Wow, I thought X-men 1 was mediocre, 2 was phenomenal, and 3 was cheesy, but had some decent action.

And Singer only directed the first two X-men films, the third DID have a new director. ;)

P.S. - Daredevil and Blade: Trinity see your "worst superhero film of all-time" nod and raise you a hundred.

I give you the Punisher (first one) and Electra and raise another hundred :)
What I hated the most is theyed just get you into a storyline then just stop and we'd see no more. Just more wolverine..

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) Spoiler
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show) As far as the leach idea he has to be so close to take away their powers. So jean would just destroy him before that could happen. As far as the neddles those would be destryed as well.

Jean is far more powerfull then anyone and could destroy every one in the world with her mind but only use her powers partly. She could have destryed wolverine but could not as deep down she loved him more. So it was that deep down anger that destryed scott. Although why proffeser X did not put in the mental blocks while she was under.

I would have liked to see more of arch angel as they stared his story line but never really did anything with it.

Prehapps the 4th movie will be better. They may get away from wolverine as he's getting his own movie..

Apparently you haven't seen DareDevil or Superman IV!
X-Men 2 was fantastic. Loved it. DIdn't really like X1. It was rushed and budget squeezed, so the film never could come alive.

I have not watched X3 and may not ever watch it.

Yes, a WOLVERINE film is in the works. The script is written and has been reviewed (positively) but it will be PG-13 all the way.

A very R rated script was written, but will not be used. It is an amazing script. A cross between GLADIATOR and HIGHLANDER in a way. And it is a crime it will never be made into a film. I mother ******* HATE studios and their PG-13 drivel.
I wasn't an X-Men comic buff, so I went into these movies blind. The first was pretty good, the second was very good, and the third had its moments but was also fairly stupid (even for a comic book movie). On balance, however, X-Men rate relatively high in comic-book-to-movie adaptations. There have been some very idiotic films in that genre.

Superman Returns and X-Men 3 are worse than Catwoman and Fantastic 4?
If one accounts for the disappointment factor, I'd definitely say that X3 was 1000 X times worse than Catwoman and 1 million X worse than Fantastic 4, despite the fact that those movies had Berry and Alba in them. X2 was a fairly good film, as they took a five-second breather from "Broody-Claws" and let some of the vastly superior actors portray the far more advanced and interesting characters in front of the camera.
I have to admit Spyder, this trilogy was a little too Wolverine heavy (and I say this in spite of being a Wolverine fan as a kid).

However, I have to disagree on HJ's acting abilities.

IMO he is one of the best of his generation.

WAIT WAIT!!!

OK, I just sealed the door to my bomb-shelter. :D

HJ isn't that bad, it's just that he pales in contrast to Patrick Stewart...just like nearly evryone else on the planet. :)

Have you ever seen PS's "performance" in David Lynch's Dune?

Ummmm...not so good. :D
