After reading Projector Centrals review of the differences in the X1 and 4800, and reading the forums, I find myself questioning which PJ to pull the trigger on. I read of people who bought an X1 and then upgrading to the 4800 software later, and then others who had trouble with 4800 setup and went back to the X1. I am somewhat computer savvy, but upgrading software and firmware on a PJ is just not something I want to attempt right off the bat. Is there a "real" benefit to having the 4800 over the X1? Should I get the X1, live with it and upgrade later, or spend the extra for the 4800? I'm not looking for perfection, just biggest bang for the buck!! Thank you!!!

It's crazy to buy a 4800 unless they are throwing in a free screen and an extra bulb. They are the same exact projector. The firmware just isn't that big a deal.
