The info on this first page was edited on March 7, 2004 ... all pricing on this first post is relevant and if the mount is no longer available I will note it on this first post... All of the info is relevant on this post.. The pics have also been updated.... The T Handle on the knee joint is actually a better one now that I do not have a pic for ... But is one that is from a USA company made in a division in Italy..

This is a pic of a mount for an X1 I had made up for a client. NOTE ..the original pic was revised to the updated and now updated again... The original and updates were downloaded in excess of 20000 times.. I had an incredulous response to make some up and received permission from AVS to offer to do up some runs.. and offer it as a special to AVS members. You will note that the mount fits flush to a wall and can be adjusted both horizontally and vertically. It can also be used as a ceiling mount with drops of 4.5", 10", or 15.5" to the projector...(with some variability in vertical height.. I am also making up plates now for people to swap-out and also offer the same configuration mount for the other projectors I endorse.

Currently on run 15.. as of March 04... In the interest of brevity I am updating to the most recent pic here so you do not have to go through all of the pages.. One of the most recent changes is the the handles on the knee joint ... the black powder coat.. and snap caps for concealing the hardware.. that goes into the Ceiling/Wall plate.

The plates are cnc laser cut including the holes to be exact to the projector. The knee joint pieces are cnc machined and drilled. The finish is a powder coat finish from one of the most respected companies in the business that do work for Honda, the finish is a Black Satin ... is actually the same finish used on the Hummer2 Rocker panel.. by the same company that actually does the finish for Hummer. I also make up special drops to accomodate special circumstances.. and the extentions match the finish of the projector exactly. All the hardware is included...

I received a patent for it so it cannot be reproduced commercially except as a DIY project. ie one for yourself. Purpose of patent was only to drive some R&D funds into business. I have had quite a few requests about this mount and have received permission from AVS to see if anyone had some interest in having some made up. I am getting some other hole dimensions so it can be adapted for other popular projectors. Since I will make up about 50 to start I couldnt use my client to make up all 50 as a favor.... and to keep the price down I have to use a source that can cut the plate and bend the mounting plate to the wall/ceiling (gives it more strength) I have some pricing for some of the costs, and shipping and packaging and I am still trying to find an optimal qty to make that will drive the cost of this mount down as far as it can.

The point of the edit was to update that I did get permission from AVS and that to make it cost effective I have to produce more than a few up.

I have made up 160 of these.... In the interest of brevity I will include the pricing for these here on the first post. There is numerous posts with pics to follow and other information on installation etc. To purchase I use paypal.... It is a business paypal account so you can use credit cards etc...

US pricing .... $83.00US which includes shipping by Fedex. All the hardware and allen wrench. There is no taxes, duty, over 1700 shipments have cleared without being held at customs for even 1 day.

Canadian pricing ....$98.80 CDN. which includes shipping by Fedex ground, hardware, allen wrench, and all taxes.

email to use for paypal...... [email protected]

Make sure you include your shipping address, and PHONE NUMBER for Fedex.

If you want any other items to be included like the X1 vga to component adapter... 12US.... or 15 CDN.. If you want this please specify and add it to your information... no additional charge for shipping. Svideo adapters to component are usually always in stock as well... and yes these are the original Infocus adapters.

I also have excellent pricing for the X1 itself... you can email me for pricing. I then ship out the X1 and package the mount in the carrying case for the X1. I only ship the X1 by Fedex Priority insured.

I also have done several shipments to Europe, New Zealand, Australia. But pricing is subject to shipping charges.

here is another view

The first pic was a wall mount ..

This one shows ceiling type config with side to side adjustment

horizontal is on the ceiling plate or the projector plate..

Note this pic was revised on March 04 to display the most current version and so people that have not had a chance to see it will not have to scramble throughout the entire post.

another view Vertical adjustment

Again this pic was revised to include the most recent ..

Of course you can change the orientation to make any adjustment ..

Since some of the pics have been revised some of the posts will not reflect the original pics... Some of the first few posts also will not make any sense... relative to the pic..

The original pic download count was over 20000.. But it will be easier and more relevant to have the most recent pics at the front end...

I may just scrap out the entire post at some point to just have one post.. for all the models I do..

My client did it to my specs. I gave it to a customer that had some serious room restrictions.

Easy for you to say!

Not that I'm going to make one myself, but cut out using what? A Dremel?

Nice work, but you're leaving out a lot of interesting detail like where you had to get the parts and how much it all cost. I guess technically that's against forum rules, but I would think a DIY project would be an exception.

Roto...

If it isnt obvious what was used to make the mount then I would recommend getting one made.

If anyone is interested I could attempt to get permission from the site to do a run of them. I would do this at cost and get my machine shop client to make up a bunch as a favor.

Would have to be some qty to bother the people at this site.

If it could be adapted for a ceiling mount I would use one also.

I need something that will alow for maximum clearance of 4-6 inches.

It could easily be adapted for a ceiling mount. I could also use an alternate to the bolt and make it with a significant enough id to allow wires to pass through it.

What would you prefer?

After looking at the pics again I see that it could be used as a ceiling mount with no modifications except the rod length. Very nice.

So what is the turn around time for one with a short rod? No need to pass wires yet.

the turn around time will be short ....... but I am not going to make them unless there is a demand to make them. One offs will be too much money.

The wall mount into a stud is ideal.... but anchor screws would be strong enough..... my suggestion would be to use the anchor screws that flare into the drywall......

I would be interested in a ceiling mount version. I have a Ducane version of the X1 (identical except for badges and 5 yr parts/labor) on order.
