I have been too, for 2 months since Kris claimed above 90 ratings. He did samsung laterz but Xa2 was never revealed unfortunately.


I would have loved to see how HD A20 faired against XA2

I would be almost willing to bet xa2 and samsung are similar. If the a20 doesn't use the reon it probably won't do that well on upscaling.

Secret's testing doesn't measure upscaling (not that I recall, anyway). The deinterlacing tests don't really tax the newer (Reon, Realta, ABT) deinterlacing. He/They can't change the tests or the scores would not be valid across all players. You'll notice that the Oppo 971 scored the same as the Sammy P1200 for SD-DVDs. Kris's commentary will sometimes give other details.

Exactly right - Kris said in comparing the high end Denon with the ABT chip to that with the Realta that scaling and deinterlacing were very close, with a slight edge to the Realta re scaling.
