XA2 Settings Question ?

Could someone tell me EXACTLY what advantages a user would benefit from if they tweak the Contrast, Brightness, Color, Tint, & Selective Color Enhancement variables in the XA2 ?

I simply fail to see the benefit !

I realize you can create and save 3 edit tabs in the XA2 but when you already have in my case 4 cal. pre-sets in my FP & 6 different picture modes why would a user need more?

If you have already set up your projector & calibrated it to display the PQ why would you need to adjust any settings in the XA2 other then turning ON the Edge Enhancement, Mosquito NR, Random NR, & Block NR in the XA2 which are the only ones I have turned ON. I did create the #1 edit with the Block noise reducer ON & the #2 Edit with the Block noise reducer OFF just to compare PQ with the same media content.

if you don't need them then don't use them.....how much more "EXACTLY" do you need?

on SD i find the Edge Enhancement is a nice feature set to 1, if your viewing distance will allow it.

This is acutually a very nice feature to accommadate multiple inputs being switched over a single HDMI connector to the video display. I callibrated my plasma for the blu ray player then adjusted the XA2 instead of recalibrating the televison.

Very good point !

In my case I`m using only the XA2. In your case I can definitely now see the benefit !

For SD playback I noticed a definite improvement in going from preset 1 on the XA2 (brigtness +4 only change) to going to preset 2 on the XA2 (brigtness +4 and all other enhancements "on" including 2 on edge (or one with the 2 option) while the SD DVD was playing so for SD DVD I use the 2 preset.

Those are useful beacuse the video level is not constant among players. My TV was calibrated by an ISF certified tech, and I asked him prior to my purchase if I need to do anything. He told me to set the Contrast to -6 and brightness to +6 to achieve the same video levels that he's signal generator puts out when he calibrated the set. So these came handy, of course Toshiba could have just adjust it internally to the accurate levels, but it seems we don't live in on a perfect world.
