XB360 X-Men: The Official Game

Had a chance to rent this one this weekend.

The game play is nothing new they have taken 3 characters - Wolverine, Nightcrawler and Ice man and each has their own levels and skills. I played through the game up until the 2nd last level where my copy screwed up so I couldn't finish. Took about 6-8 hours to make it through the whole game more or less. My take is this.

Decent rental if your a fan of the X-men. Graphics are good but not excellent the overall presentation of the game is like a graphic novel which I liked but my friend who was over did not. The game will certainly wreck parts of the upcoming movie for people so I'd suggest if you want to watch the movie watch it first then rent the game afterwards.

Iceman is basically a "surfing" type of game where you ride / surf your Ice bridge and shoot ice beams and missiles fairly entertaining for the 1st couple of levels but gets old fast.

As with every x-man game I've played Wolverine is more of the same, with him you just run around and hack stuff to pieces nothing new here.

Nightcrawler was the most fun by far and his teleportation was new and added the most enjoyable sections of the game for me and my friend that tried the game out as well.

Colossus and Storm are in a couple of levels to assist the playable characters but seem to be more of an afterthought by the developers. Storm is helpful as she can clear a room of baddies every minute or so with a lighting strike. Colossus is not so helpful as you need to save his bacon about every 2 minutes in the level he shows up in to "assist" nightcrawler.

I would rate the game about a 6/10. Figure on about 8 hours to finish it and depending on skill level around 20+ hours to get all of the achievements.

The achievements are not easy in my opinion for those looking for quick points I ended up with 5 out of 16 achievements for 50 pts total after about 8 hours of play.

May rent it again and try to finish it up see what if anything unlocks and post an update to this mini review.

For those on the fence I suggest a rental after watching the movie unless your a die hard fan.
