I'm in the process of building an HTPC (basically, only a video card and Blu Ray drive from completion!).

I've bought the 1TB Spinpoint F3 as my primary hard drive. I'm now wondering if that's overkill.

I hadn't considered this until today, and had not considered any drive other than the F3 due to its speed and rave reviews. Now I'm wondering if I should just go for the EcoGreen F4 2TB as my primary hard drive.

The pros are obvious - more storage. Perhaps cooler and quieter too.

But the cons seem to outweigh the pros for me at least. The F4 is slower, and I really don't need the extra storage in my HTPC, since I had originally planned to stream all of my media from my primary PC using XBMC, which made me figure the F3 would be a better option...

Could someone give me their thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance.

I own both samsung HDDs.

The f3 is a really good drive for overall usage.

If it's a real htpc ( no other use except media playback & running the OS ) the green disc will be fine, too. It's highly recommended to make some (at least two) partitions.
