If your setup is working for you presently, why change?

Except for some visual or interface difference all frontend do basically the same thing... play your media.

If WMC7 works for you and isn't buggy I wouldn't change.

If on the other hand you have some weird problem like I did then you can always try it. Both can live one beseide the other.

XBMC has its own built in player. I play DVD ISOs and for HDDVD/Bluray I rip them to m2ts using ToNMT/Anydvd hd. Both play flawlessly. I also have some mkvs that play fine too.

IIRC, XBMC won't play Bluray ISOs.

I think you can have it use an external player, but my experience has been it's so smooth, why bother?

Note: I normally run XBMC for HT use on a Zotac ION w/XBMCLive (linux). I do this because it works as an appliance (2-3 sec recover from suspend, no OS junk). I also run XBMC under Win XP for testing/desktop use.
