Can the Microsoft XBOX with the addition of the High Definition Video Pack scale DVD's to 1080i just like a HTPC with an nVidia GeForce card can?

If not, does it atleast output 480p ?

Thanks

It can do 480p. I don't know if it does the 3:2 pull down. It can do 1080i and widescreen. They have not really gave alot of specs on the DVD, besides the DVD remote is going to cost $30.

According to Microsoft, the DVD kit is required to play DVDs, but I think you are right, the remote is the only part. The software that is playing the DVDs is the Cinemaster software made by Ravisent. That is what will handle the 3:2 pulldown. I have this on my PC and it works quite well. I don't know how much hardware acceleration will be built into the decoding process, but it would stand to reason that since the hardware is constant that Ravisent will probably build some in.
