I am awaiting delivery of a 34XBR960, and in the meantime I have been reading the users manual and various forum threads regarding the appropriate choices of video settings for HD and SD sources. Suppose that I use only the RF cable input to get whatever unencrypted HD and analog channels the cable company (Charter) sends into my home (no box). If a particular combination of picture, brightness, sharpness, etc. looks best with HD and a different combination applies to SD, I'm assuming that what I need to do is re-define one of the picture modes (pro, say) for use with HD programs and another mode (movie, say) for SD, and then manually choose the appropriate (saved) mode depending on the program. Am I on the right track here?

Lately on the forum I've noticed a few complaints about the picture being very dark especially with 960's manufactured sept/oct,what's up with that?I'm really getting nervous about buying one:confused:

The XBR960 has a Digital Audio Optical out labeled PCM/Dolby Digital. Does any one know how to switch this output from Dolby Digital (I assume this is up to 5.1 depending on the broadcast) to PCM (I assume this is two channel). I couldn't find it in the manual.
