Took a quick look at the Sigma Designs site and trying get the use of the XCard straight. It looks like you use the Windows desktop and XMedia player (viewed through the graphics card output) to fire up a DVD and the XCard output is directly connected to the display device. Is this correct?

In the setting of an HTPC you would then need to switch between the graphics card input and the XCard input after starting the DVD?

No, Xcard depends on a pass-through of the signal from the GPU thereby eliminating the need to shift input on your screen.

The Xcard offers S-video and component-out for a direct connection to your display device, as well as the option of using a VGA pass-through cable. In my setup I have the Xcard and the video card connected to separate inputs on my receiver and switch between them as necessary. I use Girder to control Xmedia Player with my remote and do not need to see the desktop to launch a DVD.
