Xiaomi ALPD 3.0 : CEC turn on AND off

Hello all !

I'm struggling with getting my setup to work great using only 1 remote to turn on and off everything through HDMI CEC.

First, my setup :
  • Apple TV 4K (Gen 2)
  • Xiaomi ALPD 3.0
  • Amplifier Yamaha RX-S602
My Apple TV is link with brand new HDMI 2.0 cable to the HDMI 1 (IN) of the amplifier.
The amplifier is link using the HDMI OUT (ARC) using also a brand new HDMI 2.0 cable to the Xiaomi ALPD 3.0 video projector.
All ARC/CEC options are switch on, on every device. Awake option is ON, on the video projector, HDMI control is ON in the amplifier setup.

If I turned on the Apple TV (using the Apple TV remote), well, everything works fine. The Apple TV wake on, the amplifier turn ON and the video projector follows.

My big concerns is that, I cannot make the video projector turn off doing the same. If I turn off the Apple TV, the amplifier turn OFF ... BUT the video projector doesn't. Instead, it switches to "HDMI 1 search screen" and this is turning ON the amplifier back again (the Apple TV stays off...).
If I want to turn off the system, I need to turn off the video projector (sleep mode, 1 short press) and that doesn't seem to trigger the CEC turn off option... but if I long press and select "Shutdown", then it triggers everything.

But I wanted to only use the Apple TV remote... so that's not very convenient.

I guess that the video projector does not handle the turn off via CEC option... but I wanted to be sure... maybe I missed a setup option, but honestly, I lost faith :cautious:

Any tips ? Ideas ? Suggestions ? Thanks a lot in advance for your inputs !

CEC sucks. It doesn't have nearly enough standards of definition to allow it to work anywhere near properly.

The best solution, as it ALWAYS has been, is to use a good universal remote.

A universal remote will actually work to start up and shut down equipment once it is properly programmed. In fairness, some manufacturers have gone to very proprietary control schemes to ensure nothing in the world will allow them to be controlled effectively. That's what we get for buying cheap stuff I suppose.

I know that CEC implementation relies on the good willing of the manufacturer + definition is kinda ... "blurry". Well, any idea for a nice remote that works with all my stuff .... and not a Harmony (I find it bulky and ugly 😅
