XM and iPod?

1041 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  jeff96gt
My sister just asked me to look into an aftermarket XM receiver (portable or for the car) that was also compatible with her iPod - I haven't had much luck finding anything - can you tell me if any of these XM receivers have inputs?

Thanks,

Rick

Is she sure she wants such an animal? That would mean that she'd need the XM receiver in the car/turned on to listen to the iPod.

Simpler to just get an FM transmitter or Cassette adapter for the iPod, and let both items be standalone.
I have this exact setup. I have an Alpine 6847 head unit with iPod integration and I just added XM satellite to it at Christmas. Very happy with the whole setup. As far as the FM transmitter...sounds terrible. I had that in my wifes car and I was extremely dissapointed in the stereo separation and overall sound quality. The Alpine setup lets you control the iPod through the head unit as well as it charges the iPod while connected.
