Can anyone help me get the DVD-A feature working on my XP-50? I think I'm probably not doing something obvious.

I hooked up the DVD player with audio set to both optical out and later 6 5.1 channel analog out, but each time I heard only stereo. I even unplugged the optical cable to confirm the analog outputs were being used and the DVD player reports that it is configured for 6 channel output. What did I miss?

Thanks

Maybe it is defaulting fo the 192/stereo track. Try and set it to the 96/multi channel track.

The only thing that I can think of is...

Did you set your RECEIVER to the correct output? On my Onkyo I can cycle through Optical...Coaxial...Analog...Multichannel...outputs

(And Mulitchannel is not available for all devices. DVD and CD, yes.)

It sounds like you're doing the right thing on the DVD side. Which receiver are you using?

The XP50 outputs to the digital as well as analog outs, when you play a DVD-A. Make sure you set your receiver to listen to the analog MultiChannel inputs, because most will default to the digital out if it's connected to that input. Other than that, make sure you are listening to the MLP multichannel track on the disc, usually selectable in the audio setup portion on the DVD-A
