Y cable needed from LFE mono out? plz help

My receiver, a Pioneer 1014TX, has only 1 output for the sub... my subwoofer, an HSU VTF2-MK3, has 2 inputs. Are there any benefits to using a Y cable? What would happen if I used one anyway?

I use 2...it just sums the input anyways...you can use a little less gain.

But you don't need a y---just use your sub out on your pioneer (i have the same one) and just plug it in either the left or right port on the sub.
Using as Y cable will send the same mono signal to both input connections on the sub. When calibrating you won't need to turn the subs gain up as much to get the same output level and if you have any issues with the auto on/off sensor using a Y cable can help due to sending a stronger signal to the sub.

Other than that their are no advantages.
so it won't do any damage then...and I also read it may help curb any interference due to an open port, any truth to that?

Also, would it make any difference if I split it at the receiver end or if I ran the single cable from the receiver and split it at the sub?

The difference would be directly proportional to the cost fo the cable. The more you spent on the second cable the more you would have wasted.
