Anyone wanna nominate some reception products for an unofficial "Yagi" award?

Categories include: Best Indoor Antenna, Best Outdoor Antenna, Antenna with Best WAF properties (Wife Acceptance Factor), best rotor, and best pre-amp. And how about Antenna with worst WAF property.

Some of my nominations:

Best Indoor Antenna:

Silver Sensor

Radio Shack Double Bow-Tie

Best Outdoor Antenna:

ChannelMaster 4248 http://www.channelmaster.com/layout_...%20Antenna.jpg

Winegard Model CA-8098 http://www.starkelectronic.com/wca8098.htm

Antenna with Best WAF properties (Wife Acceptance Factor):

SilverSensor http://www.winegard.com/products/vhf..._antennas.html

Of course, most of those funky looking Terk antennas don't work very well . . . basically, the best WAF antenna is any antenna you can get to work in your attic . . . be sure to look at those

Best rotor:

Channelmaster 9521A . . . it gives you another remote to play with! http://www.channelmaster.com/pages/rc1.htm

Best pre-amp:

The Winegard AP series, especially the Winegard AP-8275 http://www.winegard.com/products/acc...cessories.html

Channel Master Titan series: http://www.channelmaster.com/pages/ts1.htm

Antenna with worst WAF property:

Channel Master 4521 "Para-scope" http://www.channelmaster.com/pages/u1.htm

Just add a 50 foot tower and a rotor and blammo . . . instant divorce.

Channel Master 4228 http://www.channelmaster.com/layout_graphics/4228.jpg

It looks like your oven rack on a stick with some bow ties that are hanging out to dry.

Winegard Model CA-8098 http://www.starkelectronic.com/wca8098.htm

Not 1, not 2, but 3 booms! It even has fins like a '60s Caddy!

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a direct correlation between how ugly an antenna is and how well it works? The uglier, the better it works. All those sleek stealth antennas don't work for crap. The Terk antennas seem to be famous for looking good but not performing well. (Personally, I haven't tried any but they don't seem worth the $.)

Let's see. If I take about 20 Terks and attach them to a wooden arrow about 5' long with points about 2' long each, now I'll have, effectively, a yagi design using attractive antennae. So, when approached by my wife about this contraption I can indicate that, by definition, it must be 20 times as attractive as just one!

Klunk!
