Noticed that a lot of manufacturers are adding Yahoo Widgets to their 2009 line of TV's. One one hand I think it is cool but on the other, I keep asking myself, "Why?"

What do you guys think?

Did anyone see them at CES? Is this technology/feature worth holding out a couple more months for?

I guess I am trying to decide between buy now or wait a bit more.

Thanks

Samsung 750 had this since last year. So far its only limited to Weather/news and Stocks. I rarely use it though...

I really don't get the point, but then I have an HTPC for that kind of thing. And the PS3 and Wii, at least, do news better. If this is something really worth having it'll be on the consoles and the consoles will do it better.

i haven't seen them on an hdtv, but from what i've read and seen...see links below -- i wouldn't base an hdtv purchase on them one way or the other. (though the newer sets might be worth waiting for other reasons).

windows vista has similar, though more limited, and they just took up desktop space and seemed to make the harddrive work more updating them

[why yahoo is hurting -- i used google to find these links:]

I have used the Yahoo widgets on my PC - I like them but I can live without them.

I guess I am trying to rationalize waiting for the newer TV or look at the deals that will be out there soon. Samsung B650 or Vizio 240hz? or today's models? I am trying to keep the price down and Costco deals on the 47 Vizio is tempting.
