Nice sounding machine and I for one think concentrating on contrast and not absolute light output is probably a good idea (I would love to see one of these 3000+ lumen Sanyo's)..
Without wanting to sound like sour grapes I have just had a look at the image throw calculator and it has an image offset greater than the Davis units (14 3/16 inches on a 120 inch 4:3 or 96 inch width) so this may be another one that does not like Pannies..
Lens shift will take care of the problem! It will allow you to shift to image to be "edge aligned" as I believe they call it in another thread. This would allow you to project an image that the Panamorph was optimized for.
