I'm confused.

I'm a newbie. All I see at Best Buy are Yamaha "HRT-xxxx" home theater receivers.

When I go to a home theater dealer the fist line he shows me is the "RX-Vxxx" series.

What is the difference between the 2?

Thanks,

I think there is no physical/feature difference until the 1200. The different nomenclature is similar to what Denon does with it's marketing approach. One line is intended for the Mass market sellers and one is for the higher end dealers.

The HTR series is usually rated power-wise at 1KHz, and the RX-V series is rated at 20Hz-20KHz, so it looks as if the HTR series has comparable power to the cheaper brands (sony pioneer, etc) who rate their amps at 1KHz as well.

The A/V store consumer usually knows the difference, and the Best Buy consumer may not.
