Yamaha Receiver Manager

Hopefully someone here can help, I have a Yamaha HTR5890 and use receiver manager to control it from my PC. However it takes a long time to run though the connecting stage before i can use it. Is there a way to just do simple commands such as power on and volume and a few others without going through the whole setup process?

there is somewhere a pdf file containing all the serial commands that the receiver understands

you can send these commands as scripts or use girder/etc.

only problem I have no idea how to do any of these

I think I have seen the scripts on remote central, But like you, I don't know how to do these either.
