I was just about sold on the RXA-1000 when I found out it won't play songs from the iPhone through the front USB port. It looks like most of the XX10 line isn't out yet. One exception is the RX-A810.

What is the 810 missing?

Other than some old S-Video outputs and an additional 12v trigger?

The specs show it has more power than the 1000, but a slightly higher THD (8ohms, 0.09% vs the 8ohms, 0.06% THD on the 1000)

Prices on the 1000 continue to fall as the new models come out. I think they are both about the same price right now. The 1000 might even be a little less...

You ever think of buying the RX-A1000 and the dock then you can connect your iPhone to it... or if you want you can do one slicker get an airport express from apple for 99 then connect it to the A1000 for wireless network connections and airplay and save some funds..still be able to use app control and play music from you iPhone

2 component, 4 analogue audio, 1 phono, 1 multi-channel, 2 optical, and 1 coaxil inputs. 1 optical output. HD Radio (US version). 8 Scenes.

Doesn't seem like the RX-A810 can do video output to zone 2 through the monitor outputs.

They actually show the RX-A810 with less power and higher THD at the most comparable measurement. Rated Output Power (20Hz-20kHz, 2ch driven): RX-A810: 100W (8ohms, 0.09% THD) RX-A1000: 105W (8ohms, 0.06% THD)

The RX-A1000 looks to be significantly less right now and I doubt the price will fall much more.

I've been comparing the the A1000 and the A810 as well.

Is it true that only the A1000 has independent crossovers? My center channel can go a bit deeper than my surrounds and this seems like a nice feature to have.

Is the X10 series GUI improved?

I don't know about the crossovers but the "big" GUI feature in the x10 series is the ability to turn off the on-screen volume bar.

I read a review on the A1000 and they were astonished at the measurements, power output and sound quality. I tried to talk my dad into buying one to no avail. A friend recently purchased the A2000 and it is mightily impressive!

Read the reviews and can see the comparison chart but still not sure which way to go, the A1000 is about $100 less on Amazon right now. So the bottom line is, does the A810 have $100 more in features or is the A1000 just a great price right now?

Why not just buy the a2000 or the a3000? The a2000 is only $880

Thanks for the suggestion but not looking to spend much more than $750 on this. original question still on the table A810 or A1000. My only fear with he A1000 is the last couple Yamaha receivers I've had (663, 863 & 765) seem to be a little lacking in the power department compared to my old 5160, need to turn the volume to about 75%. I'm told the 2011 receiver line has a better AMP compared with those used in the last few years.

If you are looking for a good clearance price, head to your local BB and see whats low right now.

Newegg has the 809 onkyo on sale.

ONKYO TX-NR809 7.2-Channel 3D Network A/V Receiver

Was: $1,099.00

You Save: $400.00

$699.00

I would check that model out.

One big difference (for me anyway) is the 810 is only 14.5" deep and the 1000/1010 is 17" deep (too long for my cab).

I really like the 810 features wise, just waiting for a decent price. Newegg had it for $799 with $250 giftcard over the weekend.

what are the plus of having the higher model (1000) over the 710/810?

I looked on there site and they look almost exactly the same but the 1000 has a little more power. The features and extras all look the same.

Ebay for one. however I question your warranty status when you buy from ebay. Maybe if they include a receipt.

Also Newegg.com on the weekend sales.
