The sub out on my Yamaha doesn't seem to be working. I get no sound from the sub and it goes on standby after a couple of minutes like it's getting no signal. I hooked up the sub to an old Sony receiver just to check it and the sub works fine. The problem is that I have had the receiver for a couple of years and it is out of warranty. Is there anything I can do to maybe try and fix this myself or is it going to cost an arm and leg to get it fixed by a pro?

So are you saying that this receiver is still under warranty? If so, just have Yamaha fix it. Make sure you are using the sub out and not subwoofer multichannel IN. Great receiver, BTW, I have one in our game room.

Sorry I'm dumb. I meant to say that it is out of warranty.

You could get an estimate from Yamaha but if it is going to cost more than $150 or so then you should just pick up a new one for around $350 or so.
