I'm trying to compare the overall looks and performance of these two systems. I know that a lot of people have the 770 but is there anyone out there with a YHT-450? I'm leaning towards the YHT-450 coz of its nice black piano finish . How's the finish on the 770 ? Is it comparable to the Yammies finish? Who would have a better soundstage when it comes to HT and misuc?

I have the Onkyo 770 and I'm very happy with it. The November issue of Consumer Reports has ratings for HTIB and the Yamaha-450 is the top rated system. The Onkyo 777 (770 with dvd player) is also close to the top.


The Onkyo has a laminated black woodgrain finish. I like the woodgrain look, but there are others that don't. The Onkyo is also available in Silver.

the YHT-450 sounds awesome for the price tag...cable it with good stuff and tune it right and great results will come...
