Alright I am relatively new to theater systems. I did some research and have a much better understanding. I need clarification on a few things.

In terms of my HDMI set up, this is how I have it configured. (Per Yamaha specs.)

2 ins - cable box & dvd (ps3)

1 out - hdtv

In terms of audio, this is what I have.

2 digitals ins - 1 toslink going to cable box & 1 empty

1 coaxial in - empty

I have sound from the television but not the ps3 this way. I am unsure if this is correct. I would assume it is correct and I need another toslink from the second digital in directly to the ps3?

Is there anyway to just listen to the cd input and have my television play through it's own speakers as if there was no theater system?

Thanks for any help

Your receiver is video pass through only. You'll need to hook an optical cable to your ps3.

Not quite sure what you mean here.
