Update!!

So, I found what I consider to be a good deal on the Onkyo SR601. I found the specs to show that it's 85w per channel at 8ohoms versus 110 at 6.


I just hooked up my JBL E80's and I drive JBL 4" wall mounted speakers. I know the 4" are rated to 100w, so I think they'll be fine.


Will the 85w be enough to drive the E80's?


I currently have a Sony receiver that came in a HTIB that's boasting 100w per channel, but I seem to not believe that.


Anyone care to comment on if the 85 Onkyo watts is more and will produce a better sound than the old Sony? My guess is yes, but...

I'd take the Onkyo between the two. You should also try and listen to Marantz and Denon. Good luck with whatever you get and welcome to the forum.
