I spent a good portion of yesterday reading about seating platforms and learned quite a bit. I am going to build one of these in my basement. From time to time I get water in my basement, not often and not much (1/2" or so), but enough to have the rule that everything is in a bucket, or off the floor.

My plan was to use a 2x8 frame and not put decking under the couch, so I could vacuum up the water if necessary. I learned the need for insulation, so I am now thinking of making a 2x6 frame with 1/2" plywood bottom all caulked up so not to leak and placing this on 2x2 runners that would allow for air flow under the platform, for drying purposes. This would allow me to put insulation in the platform, while maintaning my proper height.

My question is will this 1.5 inch open gap under the platform cause any acoustic problems?

Thanks in advance,

Paul
