Yet another Samsung 360 OTA problem

649 Views 5 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Footer
I've been searching the various threads in this forum and can't seem to find the problem I'm currently experiencing with my 360. It has to do with multiple OTA channels ... I've scanned for digital channels numerous times now and it has picked up more than one 9-1 channel. I've "removed" the one that I don't want but flipping back and forth between channels using the back button always brings me back to the wrong 9-1 channel even though it's in my "removed" list!

I hope this makes sense but if not, I'll try to explain further. It's especially annoying because the World Series is on 9-1 (FOX) as are many of the NFL games we watch ...

Any help or insight would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks.

I know exactly what you are talking about. Try taking your zipcode out the the prime network. You will lose your guide info but you should be able to switch channels without getting PBS instead of Fox.
Yup! That did the trick!!! No guide info. like you said but the switching channels problem went away.

Thanks much!

PLEASE open a ticket at D* on this -- I have an issue on my 160 where the audio doesn't come through when I have my ZIP in place. Take it out (00000) and the sound is fine - just no guide.

Apparently D* has a problem in some markets whereby the data they're sending the Samsung STBs is in conflict with the OTA reception. THEY NEED TO FIX THIS!

Did I say PLEASE?

Thanks

Andrew
Andrew,

Sorry but I didn't see your reply until today! I attempted to report the problem to D* (but not until after talking to the third technician!). The tech told me that there's nothing D* can do about this problem since it relates to local off air channels. He recommended pulling out the zip code and living without the programming information for local channels. :(

So, what to do? Call Samsung??? I'm convinced that this IS a problem within the receiver and SOMEONE should be able to fix it!

Any other ideas would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,

I got in touch with Samsung's Tier 2 support on this problem and they said the receiver is working correctly. They claimed that it's a channel mapping problem that occurs when the programming information is downloaded from DirecTV's satellite(s).

So, back to DirecTV. Talked to their "HDTV experts" and they basically said there's no way to fix this problem. It's working as designed and if you want the problem to go away, you have to live without the programming information (by keeping all zeros in for the zip code).

Oh well, I tried.
