How many of you have heard that from friends and relatives especially over the holidays? How do they think we are playing back DVDs? Film?

Why are so many people amazed that you can watch TV on a projection but yet think nothing of watching a DVD on it?

I just don't see why the concept of front video projection is so alien to most non AVS people

Yeah, I've heard that a couple of times. Also, "you can play your XBox on there? Wow!"

I get the same reaction when I show digital photos to friends via my PS3. A few of my friends and I are avid photographers, so we just bring over SD or CF cards with some of our favorite scenic shots of Japan, and we critique each other's work. The zoom and pan functions are also really fun and useful for scrutinizing specific locations in a frame.

A few years back, when Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Extended Edition was broadcast in HD, some friends came over to watch it. I cued up my DVD version and we jumped back and forth between the HD and DVD versions. That comparison alone convinced two people in the group to buy their own HD front projectors.
