I am looking for all combinations, particularly for those with the Panasonic plasmas.

I am wondering what DVD players you have tried, and what you wound up with. Are you happy with it? How would you classify PQ?

This is a non-scientific test, so stats on players etc are no big deal.

For example, I have tried:

Panny plasma + Toshiba SD3750 = OK

+ Denon DVD-1600 = Too "harsh" a picture for me

+ JVC XV-SA600BK = Great filmlike PQ that I am loving right now.

All posts are welcome....

Thanks in advance!

Panny XP30 DVD with progressive component out to Fujitsu P50

Only player I've tried with the P50. PQ is better than HD upconvert. Very pleased.

Panny 42" SD

Toshiba SD3109 (non-progressive) using component cables

I was thinking about getting a progressive scan DVD player, but the Panny has 2:3 pull down and does a great job of deinterlacing, so I'm not going to bother.

Panny 42" HD with Panny XP-50. I use the component output to connect the DVD player to the plasma set and the PC output of my Dish 6000 sat receiver to connect HD output to the plasma set. The pictures are beautiful!

Could you give a little more details on what you mean by harsh?

The picture is just a bit too sharp for me (even with panny sharpness turned down the the max)

Granted it is nice, but just not for me. I (so far) prefer the "just a bit" softer more filmlike image from the JVC....

Pioneer 503CMX + HTPC via DVI. The HTPC replaced a Denon DVD-3800. Although the Denon was the best quality I had ever experienced from a DVD Player, it doesn't compare to Native Rate via DVI from the HTPC.

i don't know if it is in your price range but try looking at a Yamaha 2300 DVD player. do a search on the DVD hardware forum. According to one new owner, it gave a more film like and softer picture relative to a denon. I don't know if it was the 1600 or the 3800 that it replaced. Or wait for the noew deonon 2900 that is to come out next month. new decoder and no chroma bug.

I have been keeping tabs on that player and (hopefully) it will be my next step up from my new JVC....:D

Panny (gulp), its almost too painful, DVD-A120.

Compare what. PQ is heads and tails above my Mits VS-50705 with my Sat/Cable, with DVD UNFRIGGIN BELIEVABLE.:p
