Your top five brands

I am asked all the time on forums is this and that is a good brand, who is the best brand, and so on and so forth.

Personally I don't have enough experience with TVs to rank my 5 but I own two Panasonic tvs which have been great for me so far.

So have at it, rank your top 5, or top three brands and I will make sure to average the list out.

Sony, Samsung, LG, Toshiba, Sharp

I left Panasonic off only because they don't make LCDs larger than 37". However, if you are looking for a 32" or 37" LCD, I'd put Panasonic solidly in 3rd or 4th place and drop Sharp from the list.

Oops, sorry about that. Maybe I should have said that Panasonic "doesn't make a full range of the most common sizes of LCDs."

Is that better?

Sorry but no Sammy on my list...had a bad experience with my LN-S3251D and I think Samsung is a garbage brand plus they are known for using deceptive advertising (think "Panel Lottery") and they got in HUGE trouble for a price-fixing scheme involving memory (DRAM chips) and driving up the price for consumers. A totally unethical company...stay FAR away from them!

I know. That said, I still think they deserve to be on a list for their contributions and what they added to the industry.

Yes, and I think Humphry Bogart deserves to be on the list of best movie actors working today (even though he's been dead about 50 years) for the contributions he made when he was alive.

Here's my opinion from what I've seen at the store in person 3 times a week seeing the same video feeds for weeks now:

1. LG (and it's by a fairly good margin)

2. Sony

3. Mitsubishi

4. Samsung (except their mpeg artifact reduction is crap, i can't stand watching HD cable at a friend's house who has a Samsung plasma, otherwise, if there are no artifacts/noise in the signal, it's video is really good)

5. Panasonic (with Westinghouse having one 42" set at Target that looked better than any Panny I saw at Frys, but otherwise Panny will get the benefit of the doubt).
