I just purchased a v765 from Best Buy for $168.00, but it didn't included the YPAO mic. I thought I could buy one online, but none are to be found. I haven't purchased speakers yet, so I don't know how the unit sounds. Is the mic a critical component? Will sound be acceptable with out it? Would I be able to manually do what the mic does (I'm just a novice)? From my stand point, if the unit is useless without the mic, I have 30 days to return it.

Thanks

If you want to use the YPAO auto set up & optimization routine, then you will need to track down a YPAO mic. The AVR has an internal calibration file that is specific to the YPAO mic. No other mic will necessarily produce accurate results w/ the calibration file.

You are looking for a Yamaha WJ264300 microphone which sells for about $21. Call Yamaha and order one.
