Hi.

I am thinking of ordering Zektor HDS4 after searching/reading some of positive feedback on this forum.

I have one possible problem though.

Zektor HDS4 doesn't seem to be operational without a remote controller. And it doesn't come with one. OK. It had IR learning and stuff. But what if I do not have a universal remote controller ?

Doesn't Zektor HDS4 have manual switch/buttons to be used without any remote controllers ?

Thanks.

The Zektor unit does not have manual switch buttons. Even without a universal remote, you may find an existing remote will work with it. All of my Sony remote controls control the unit via the 'Cable' function. I use the Sony RM-AV3000 to control the unit, but a number of other controls would work for me.

Thanks for the reply.

What do you mean by 'cable function' ??

Many remotes have multiple functions. There is a switch somewhere on the remote that indicates whether you are operating the display, cable box, or VCR (whatever that means....have to go look it up sometime.). If you set this switch to 'cable' then the appropriate buttons will send signals for that device.

Far easier is to get a cheap universal remote. Set it to control some TV or VCR that you don't own. Then use the learning function to teach the Zektor how to respond to the signals. It is really quite simple and the results are bulletproof.
