Does anyone know the differences between the D27D51 and the C27V22?

They both say Fine Pitch CRT, I wonder if the CRT's are the same?

Any help would be appreciated...

The D27D51 is older and was replaced by the C27V22. The D27D51 has a 3D YC comb filter while the C27V22 has a 3-line comb fillter (not as good as 3D). I'm not aware of any other differences.

Thanks Robert... I currently own a D27D51 and was considering upgrading. I can't really see any benefit at this time, doesn't look like there is a whole lot of difference between the two.

What is interesting is that the C27V22 is actually running cheaper than the D27D51 and they have both still in stock???

Anyway,

Thanks

I believe the C27V22 is being replaced with a new model C27V36.

The C27V36 has DVI (instead of VGA on the C27V22) and also the 3D comb filter, an extra component input (2 total), and the component inputs can handle all the way up to 1080i now (from just 480p in the C27V22?).

I wa looking at this as an option for my HTPC, bassically as a monitor for my PC. However it doesn't seem like that will work since it forces WS letterbox 16:9 mode when it recieves a signal > 480p on component or DVI and I want my windows desktop to take up the whole 4:3 screen. Anyone have a recomendation on a good 27" HDTV to use with an HTPC?

Actually this is how I am using my D27D51... It works pretty well and does not force letterbox (I am running it at 1280x960 interlaced)....

The VGA input is nice because I do not have to go through and converters or fight DVI...

The main draw I see of the C27V36 is the inclusion of Faroudja's DCDiâ„¢ technology. Since the C27V36 is the same price as the C27V22, it's main drawback at the moment seems to be that nobody yet knows how to access the C27V36's service menu (whether or not it needs a special service remote), nor whether or not doing so will allow turning off the forced 16:9 for 480p inputs.

I'm currenty using a C36V22 with a HTPC connected via VGA input. I'm trying to tweak it with powerstrip to get the'most' out of image quality and whatnot. Can you tell me what the best settings you have found for your setup?

Here is what I settled on for now....

-------

PowerStrip timing parameters:

1280x960=1280,135,112,145,960,44,1,115,56179,1

Generic timing details for 1280x960:

HFP=135 HSW=112 HBP=145 kHz=34 VFP=44 VSW=1 VBP=115 Hz=30

Linux modeline parameters:

"1280x960" 56.179 1280 1415 1527 1672 960 1004 1005 1120 +hsync +vsync
