Noticed the TCL website lists a new 75 inch 4K UHD Tv as 75S423 currently february 9, 2019 available at Costco. It appears different from the 75 inch c807 previously from tcl and Costco. This 75S423 is more affordable than the tcl c807 or 75 inch tcl series 6 (at b*st b*y). The difference in price is noteable. Snow storm here today so I haven't seen this new model in person yet. It might be worth a try. On the TCL website it sort of appears on paper that it has standard to 4K tcl upscaling.

Was surprised to see this come out since not covered at CES to my knowledge.

Any owners of TCL 75S423 out there ?

Suppose the AVS true believers are not to thrilled at a 75 inch 4K for a penny less then a grand.

I've been doing some internet comparrision shopping durring the snow storm. On paper the TCL 75S423 appears far superior to the W*lM*rt 2017 Curtis RCA rvu7877 or 2017 sceptre u750cv-u. Neither of those other two has hdr. Those other two have significant SOE, soap opera effect. We have the little brother TCL 43S403 and PQ picture quality is fine.

I hope that the TCL pq and motion handling is above average or better. It just might be.

I saw the TCL 75S423 in person at Costco. Some relections in that bright environment. Watched the three demo loops sent to many sets. Motion looked fine. No blooming. Colors not as vivid as Qled sammy. That also means the colors looked less artificial than on sammy qled.

I am impressed by 75 inch tcl 4 series 2019 model that is 75S423.

Personally, I would get the 70” Vizio E over a 75” TCL S423 and save another $200. The 4 series isn’t very bright, and doesn’t do Dolby Vision.

You are correct. The TCL 75S423 was the least bright of the row of various extra large led's uhd tv's at my Costco.

Does Netfix 4k have Dolby Vision encoded ? What about Amazon Prime UHD? How about VuDu UHD ? Not sure what has Dolby Vision. Is it only 4k uhd discs that has dolby vision ?

Most original Netflix 4K programming is Dolby Vision encoded, Amazon Prime just recently started offering Dolby Vision encoded programming. Most Vudu UHD movies are Dolby Vision encoded.

Correct. I have it now. And have the Vizio P-Series on the way to review side-by-side. The Sony is EXCEPTIONAL - Full Stop! But... it doesn't get dark enough on dark scenes, and isn't quite bright enoug for the best HDR performance. Also, viewing angles are sheit!

However - EXCELLENT performance. For movies, sports, motion, overall HDR, upscaling of 1080 content.

I got one display unit for $1345. Tough to beat. But if the P-Series smokes it, I will return the Sony.

(Or bone up extra $$ for a refurb x900F)

Hi all. I just noticed that there's a deal at Costco for the TCL 75S423 for a whopping $999.
I'm currently strongly considering to purchase the 82" Samsung Q6, which is currently offered for $2,635 at amazon.
But the difference in price is big on the TCL.

Looking for advice on what to do. I need a big TV for my living room.

Hmmmm, I mean, the Q6 doesn't have local dimming so that's a huge price to pay for color and brightness. If you find a deal like I got on the Sony75X780F, grab it! WORLDS better than the TCL and I got mine for $1345 with 7 year warranty. Exceptional picture and motion. Great HDR as well, even if it can't do Dolby Vision. Hardly missing.

Here’s the deal—it just doesn’t get bright enough. I have the 43” version of this TV in our guest bedroom—it’s perfectly fine for that application. However, I feel that the lack of brightness is unacceptable for a primary set.

If you are looking for a budget 75” set, the Vizio E75-F is $1079 @ Costco. It has Dolby Vision, and while it’s not a light cannon, it is significantly brighter than the TCL S423.

If you live near a Fry’s, you might still be able to advantage of their sale on the 75” Samsung NU8000 for $1299. That is the best deal by far.

I'm so glad Google led me to this thread. I started out wanting to upgrade my Vizio M70-C3. I just cut the cord and wanted something newer to stream with. The 70, will go in the bedroom (for how long we will see lol) I wanted to get the 80" Vizio, but 3 people at work all have TCL's and were impressed with them. I had decided on the model in this thread until I saw that they were not very bright. I went to Costco to get a Vizio E75 but they didn't have them in store, the P series was $700 more. They only had the display left so I asked if I could get a better deal, but since they have more coming in she said she couldn't discount it. BUT, she did whisper telling me to wait because they are going on sale this coming Monday for $1,4XX down from $1,779 [emoji50]

Sold! My gift back to you guys! [emoji23]
