Do you have a simpler way to program off another remote?
BTW, I went back and bought 2 more, one for back up, and 1 for the bedroom.
I like the layout of this better than 95% of everything else I looked at
I unfortunately don't have a simpler way to program the learning functions, but it's not that hard once you get used to it. Here are the steps:
1. On the RCA remote, press and hold the device key you want to program the learning function for (TV, DVD, etc.).
2. While you still have the device button pushed down, use your other hand to press and hold the Record button on the RCA remote. After a second or two, the light on the red Power button will stay on.
3. On the RCA remote, press and release the button you want to use for the new function.
4. Get the remote that has the button you want to program into the RCA remote. Then, point both remotes directly in front of each other so the RCA remote can receive the signal from the other remote. I try to lay them both on a flat surface if possible.
5. On the other remote, press and hold the button you want the RCA remote to learn. Then, the Power button on the RCA remote should blink once, which will tell you that the button was programmed successfully. If it doesn't blink, wait approximately one minute for the Power button to start blinking. Then, press either Sleep or the backlight button and the light should go off. After that, try step 5 again.
6. Try the newly programmed button and make sure it works properly. Sometimes, it won't store the new function correctly and the Power button will stay lit up for about one second when you press the button you programmed. If this happens, repeat step 5, which you may have to do twice before it programs correctly.
The manual states that having the RCA remote too close to certain light sources could prevent it from programming the learning functions properly, but I haven't had much trouble with it. If you have any trouble, let me know!
