HDMI Switching - Bad Luck, Bad Cables, or Bad Receiver

I recently installed an LG OLED65C7P and in addition sprung for a new Receiver.

I had a Yamaha RX-471 which served my LG 3D display just fine, but I wanted to move to a receiver that had the 4k and HDR passthrough...as my display is far away from my components - I also need to rely on the HDMI switching within the receiver.

I am running Apple 4K, Dish Hopper 3 (4K), and Sony - UBP-X800 BluRay player.

I decided based on my past experience to purchase another Yamaha and went with the Yamaha RX-V681BL. It was a breeze to setup and it worked flawlessly - for the first 2 days. After the first 2 days, whenever I would switch from Dish to Apple, or between any of the incoming components - I would not get the HDMI indicator on the front display - and nothing was showing up on the display. Occasionally there would be sound but never video...and this was 2 days later! I unhooked all the components and went direct from each component to the display and perfect picture...so I assumed the HDMI board went and I returned it.

I am now onto an Onkyo TX-NR575. I have sound, and picture, however I am noticing when switching between Dish and Apple TV, I have to enable the Apple TV switch on the receiver 2 or 3 times before the HMDI handshake between the receiver and Apple TV is solid. Sometimes it does not even complete the handshake? I have swapped out the HDMI cable between the Apple TV and receiver and it seems to happen on both cables. Cables are Certified High Speed ( the newest is a Certified Premium Ultra Slim High Speed HDMI Cable, HDR, 36AWG from Monoprice and the first was an Ultra Slim 18Gbps Active High Speed HDMI Cable also from Monoprice).

Do I have another situation on my hand where the HDMI switching on the receiver just sucks?
Should I be looking at a new receiver? and If so which one?

Looking currently at the Denon AVRX2400H or the Yamaha Aventage RX-A670BL......

What are my next steps?

Cable between receiver and TV is certified - Directional HDMI over Optical - 30 feet. Signal quality over this cable is pure - running Dolby Vision 60/4:4:4 with no issues over Apple 4K tv, and running same via Sony Blu Ray player - when direct to component.

UPDATE:

Returned the Onkyo and ended up installing the Denon X2400h - So far so good....Apple 4K working great - Dolby Vision shows up immediately and passed tests....with one exception...has some flickering and drop outs on the newer certified HDMI cable....swapped that one out for a directional Active Cable...and after cycling power on TV and receiver...new cable passing 4K signal perfectly. Originally swapped out the cable without cycling power on the TV and receiver (just left them on) and had issues with signal....but after the power cycle..all is well.
