New SVS PB-1000: where do I set the dials before XT32 calibration?

I have a new SVS PB-1000 and would like to calibrate it with my existing Denon x3300 with Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and existing Definitive Tech 1000s. It's been several years since I've needed to calibrate anything and don't recall how to to set the subwoofer dials before calibration. Can you guys help?

  • Volume (Min to Max): do I put this in the middle or do I need to manually measure for 75 dB before calibration?
  • Phase (0 degrees to 180 degrees): where do I set this? My existing Sub is either 0 or 180 with nothing in-between.
  • Low Pass Filter Crossover (50Hz to 140Hz to LFE): Existing Sub is set to 140Hz (I think I did this to bypass and allow XT32 to find the roll off point?).
  • Auto Standby or On: Do I keep this "On" so calibration doesn't have to worry about waking it?
  • Line In White & Red or LFE: Existing sub doesn't have LFE so I have it going from "Sub 1" on the Receiver split into the Line In White and Red. Should I get a Subwoofer cable and go from "Sub 1" to LFE?

Sorry for the noob questions. Thank you in advance!

Set volume level to the 1 o'clock position. Leave phase on 0. Turn crossover knob all the way to the right (140Hz) provided you are using a receiver that has it's own XO settings. Use Auto or on, whichever you prefer. Use the red LFE jack on the sub and run a single cable from there to one of the sub jacks on the receiver. After running calibration, check and see what level it has for the subwoofer and what crossover settings it came up with. Most suggest a XO of around 80Hz, but calibration can sometimes come up with some odd results in this area.

Yes use lfe there are occasionally effects on that channel above 80hz. Also after the calibration make sure the sub channel gain assigned by the xt32 has not maxed out in either direction and is in line with the rest of the speakers ie +/- 5db or so.

Audyssey MultEQ XT32 has a subwoofer level matching function as part of set-up. It's triggered unless the subwoofer gain is set so the calibration SPL is 75 dB +/- 3 dB. I do like to go through with the XT32 subwoofer level match step, so I'll deliberately set the gain high enough to trigger it.

On most other set-up systems (YPAO, MCACC, MultEQ XT, etc.) I'll set the subwoofer gain such that the post-set-up sub channel level is somewhere in the negative region (but not bottomed out at the minimum value).

How has the pb1000 worked out? I just hooked up one for audition right now in 12x21x8 room. It's ok not sure if it digs deep enough it starts to open the door to what's down there
