Samsung Remote/tv button not working

Today we noticed our pn42a450p wouldn't turn on via the remote. I had to turn it on by the power on the tv. When I did that a "not available" message pops up. Almost looks like someone mashing on the remote key for a function not available.

I tied taking batteries out if remote and unplugging the tv to reset. Any thoughts before I throw it away?

To see if a button is stuck on the remote, try pointing a digital camera at the remote control's infrared emitter. You will see a light coming from the remote on the camera display if the remote is transmitting. (Note iPhones will not work with this trick due to the built in IR filter, but many other cameras will work.)

This morning I turned the TV on from the buttons on the TV itself and I noticed that the box was gone. I turned the TV on and off a few times with the remote and all seemed well. About 15 minutes of watching TV the box came up again showing not available. I realized somehow it was in the store demo mode so I took it and put it in home mode thinking that was the issue. It wasn't. Does anyone have any thoughts on what I could try to do before going out and buying new TV

Try this:

Put the TV into standby.

On the remote press in succession: Mute, 1, 8, 2 then Power.

When the TV powers on, the technician service menu appears. DO NOT CHANGE ANY OPTIONS -- look for "Factory Reset" and execute that option by pressing "OK" on the remote. Arrows on the remote navigate.

okay so i think the factory reset in the service menu may have helped my touch screen issue. to fix the hdmi calibration issue i did the following.

i went in the service menu, and had the source set to hdmi. i put this image on the screen using my apple tv. did another test and it fixed it. its is similar to the image in the post i did before, but more squares and inverted. woo hoo.

So the issue that I brought up about the "Not Available" is starting again. I cannot reset the TV by using the method of holding the exit button down for 12 seconds or using the remote to enter in service menus.

I dont think its the remotes causing the issue. I say remotes because I have the standard samsung remote as well as a logitech remote. Is there a way in the service menu that if I could get back into it, I can disable the buttons on the TV itself to see if that is the problem? It would be nice to try that.
