We have a Pioneer VSX 1020 receiver and a Cambridge IV ensemble speaker package with a total of 5 of the satellites and a subwoofer
( I know these are old)

we need to replace the subwoofer that was stocked with the Cambridge ensemble iv

we are looking at the Bic F 12. Subwoofer or possibly a Polk10”

will these work with our existing components ? Or any other ones you would suggest. Size is a issue
We don’t want something huge which I think the Bic is
Need something on the smaller size since placement is a huge issue

Thank you

You can use any subwoofer you want with the Pioneer and Cambridge speakers. Just connect the two front speakers to the Pioneer directly, instead of the dead “subwoofer” module. Due to the small size of the speakers you’ll have to set the Pioneer’s crossover pretty high, something like 150 Hz.

What are the max dimensions (l x w x h) you're looking for in a new sub?
What's your budget for a new sub?

Absent that information, I'll suggest the SVS 3000 Micro.

If I remember correctly, this works just like the Bose systems do. All the crossovers are in the bass module. The base module isn't a sub, its essentially a woofer that has been moved for easier placement of the cubes.

So a sub should be used in addition to, not in place of the bass module.

I think something less ambitious, like a Speedwoofer 10S, would be appropriate. If it’s too big, it will overpower the rest of the system. However, the 10S is a still a great sub.

Maybe hsu 12”???

Yeah nothing too crazy....you want your new sub to be able to blend nicely with your speakers that supposedly go down do 150Hz. I'd be looking at 8 inch subs within your price range.

LMAO🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ok,, Ok, I think I'm over it.. phewwww..

Wow, ok, please don't use "8" and "sub" in the same sentence. I almost choked on my tongue and stroked out simultaneously. Not a good look, so, just don't.

People are paying this much for one, what makes it better then a cheaper 10-12-15” sub?
