Long story short, my AppleTV got signed out of purchases and to save time I started buying movies on my iPhone to then watch on the AppleTV. I noticed when the movie started on the AppleTV that it wasn’t streaming in Atmos (was in 4k). After a bit of a saga, it turned out that I had about 5 movies in my library that wouldn’t stream Atmos because they were bought on my phone. It looks like if you purchase on a non Atmos capable device, it licenses a version without Atmos for your entire account. This is also misleading as the movie info page on the iPhone shows the Atmos logo. I was able to get all but 1 of the movies refunded as they were recent purchases and bought again on my AppleTV which licensed them correctly. But I have 1 movie orphaned now because it’s outside of the refund window and they have no idea how to get the Atmos version to stream on my account.
