So how do you do the Split Screen on the television? I have the 60" and didn't know that it had this option on it.

Do you have to have two seperate sources to do this or can you do it with one Satellite Receiver?

Try the settings of NIRV2181 here:

They were made for the 920 but maybe they also work on your modell. On my 925e these settings were the only ones which got nice results. But still, there won't be any perfect configuration on the Sharp (as far as I know). It will always look amazing in on movie and "not so amazing" in others, thanks to Quattron...

I picked thsi TV up at COSTCO last week.. at a great price.. the TV looked great at the Store. So I got it home.. adn set it up.. and we were amazed at how this looked and all the functions ( Still learning though).

played a few movies.. and a few Blue Rays... looked great.. and amazed.. and then.. last night.. while watching a show on Showtime ( a magic show) I notice alot of ghosting... when the people would move their hands.. or move fast across the stage.. you saw a haze..or ghosting.... Ive attempted to tweak soem settings, but not too happy anymore...
Image
.. I'm going to play with some more settings.. but.. it looks like its gonna be returned this weekend... so dissapointed too....

if anyon has any sugestions on Settings,, it would be appreciated...

I am noticing the same thing! I didn't at first but it happened after the update but not sure if they are related or not.

I've been looking to replace my 3 day old Samsung 6050 with this television. Would you say that is a good trade off? I'm mostly doing it because of the fact that Samsung has the *worst* customer service I have ever encountered. I've already had 3 problems with my TV in 3 days, and *no one* knew the answers to my problems. They were:

1) Netflix blinking in and out

2) Not being able to buy Samsung Apps/Cash

3) Not being able to sign in regularly into the Smart Hub

Everyone I talked to at Samsung gave me the run around. F them. If you've ever called them you would know you're talking to a bunch of idiots.

Anyway, lol, there's my rant. I know this is a Sharp forum but I thought I'd chime in and let every know Samsung is ****. The picture quality on their TVs might be bright, but their techs are anything but.

So, go back to Costco and trade in my 6050 for this 60" Sharp?

UPDATE: Returned the Samsung and got the Sharp. Wow, night and day between the Sharp and the Samsung. The Sharp...actually works! No flashlighting in the corners! Better picture! The Automotion...wow, that works too! What a concept. Netflix doesn't cut out every twenty seconds. The internet options took me about 5 minutes to set up vs the...3 days it took me with the Samsung. When I called customer service, they were actually helpful as well. What a nice set. 5" bigger too =)

It seems to be hit and miss with LED TVs as far as quality control. I returned a Samsung D6000 because of horrid flash lighting in all corners and picked up a Sharp 830. That 830 went back because the colors were washing out on the left side of the screen. The replacement 830 had some decent clouding and some flash lighting on the two lower corners, so that tv went back. I now have an LG PX950 which has a fantastic picture, however, it was quite the adventure getting a tv that had acceptable picture quality.

I have to compliment Sharp Aquos Advantage and how they handled my 830 clouding complaint. I contacted them and sent them a requested picture of the clouding on my 5 month old 60 inch 830 and within a few days they responded with the proposal of a free upgrade/exchange with the 832U model. They seemed very eager to resolve the problem and the delivered 60LE832U is fantastic in all respects which includes improvements of the low reflective matte screen finish and improved interface and new wireless capability. The old 830U forum detailed color settings do not set well with my 832U, but that is a simple matter of tweaking to whatever suits your viewing. Bottom line....call Sharp Aquos Advantage and be able to prove your case on any set problems and Sharp will probably take good care of you.

Yeah, even at the basic level of customer care, they're pretty nice about stuff, and they're easy to understand. Calling Sony was the same as calling India, and calling Samsung was the same as calling downtown Detroit.

Hi,

I just got this TV and it is awesome, but I am trying to see if I can get the DD from HDMI input to play out of the digital out on the TV. This way I can keep my AV receiver set to TV input all the time. So far it only does stereo (PCM)

How can I set it up to pass through the DD to the TV digital out?

Thanks in advance.

Jim

@rgbeep

That sounds great! Unfortunately Sharp doesnt have great customer service all over the world. Here in Europe I made bad experiences with them. They werent able to fix the TV and their only answer was: "Sorry but there is nothing else we can do.".

From the manual:

"Optical digital audio will be output in 2-ch stereo when it is from the external equipment connected to the TV using an HDMI cable."

This is very common. Most TVs will only output 5.1 DD from internal sources (over the air HD or resident apps).

This is great news. I just bought the 830U and it has some pretty terrible clouding and flashlighting. I'm gonna call Sharp tonight I think and see what they can do for me!

I just picked up this TV and love it so far. It replaced a samsung PN58a550. I don't have any image blur or other problems that have been reported. Picture is so sharp and clear, it's almost unreal. Very bright and vivid too. Wireless is pretty nice to have. I'm going to mount it to the wall this weekend.

Man, there seems to be a lot of inconsistent feedback on this TV. Some people are reporting inability to find the right color settings, some people are seemingly loving the picture right out of the box. Some people reporting clouding/flashlighting, some not.

In terms of the clouding/flashlighting, is that just a quality control issue? Because it seems like there are several people here who do not have that problem at first, but eventually their TV develops the issue. I suppose that's something that may be improved if I hold out for a while as Sharp works out the kinks with this TV?

I badly need a new TV as my Samsung DLP is on its last legs... I'm leaning towards the LC60LE830U, but there's so many mixed comments in this thread (although interestingly enough, the reviews on amazon are all very positive).

Even though making the jump to LED is nice, I kinda wish I hadn't missed the boat on the UN60LE88UN. It seems like that TV was nearly unanimously loved... but aaanyways, I'm probably just talking to myself at this point.

Sounds like contacting Sharp Aquos Advantage is the way to go.

I'll be prepared with a picture of my clouding.

I had read about the phenomenon, but didn't notice it until my brand new 832U was warmed up. Now I can't NOT see it.

On my old 830, the clouding would change in intensity based on picture settings and OPC settings. Since I pump 1080p media center to the house TVs, I made a few 1920X1080 pale uniform colored jpgs for the set to display. This makes the best clouding proof picture to send to Sharp instead of trying to catch a video or TV scene which may or may not make the clouding fully evident.
