What settings in my PS3 should i use for my new Home Theatre receiver

I just purchased the Yamaha YHT-495BL receiver and speakers. Im new to all things audio and dont know what settings i should use on my PS3 to get the most out of the audio. I think there are two different places under setting (audio settings and BD settings). Can anyone who owns a PS3 help me out with the best settings?

Video Setting - BD/DVD Audio Output (HDMI)

- Linear PCM (original fat PS3)

- Bitstream (slim PS3)

I have the slim PS3 so ill do bit stream. Im assuming bit stream is better? what is Linear PCM?

They both provide the same quality ...

LPCM - PS3 decodes the audio and passes as PCM to the AVR

Bitstream - PS3 passes compressed audio to the AVR which then decodes to PCM, although with this setting you can see on the AVR's front panel display what the compressed audio is (eg. HD DTS-MA, although it can also be seen on the PS3 screen as well).
