Hi all,

I have a Denon AVR-2310 receiver which is running firmware version Main 0.64. Could anyone tell me if there is a newer firmware version for this old receiver? I tried the Denon web site and it could not locate this model at all (must be too old).

Thanks.

Yes, the latest version applied back in 2010 is Main 0.69. There is a dedicated thread linked below for the Denon 2310CI in which there are several posts which discuss the 3 updates that were applied to the 2310CI. You'll need a few more posts before you can send a PM, but once you are able (suggest you simply add a few more posts in this thread with just the word "post"), send a PM to me with a non-gmail email address and I can forward the last update made available in 2010 which includes the prior updates. Instructions will also be provided on how to connect a USB --> RS-232 cable to the 2310CI from your laptop to the 2310 in order to install the update.

Ah, well that does make a difference as the firmware update I have only supports the USA units. You'll have to speak with your regional Denon rep or an authorized Denon repair facility to get more information on having the update installed. Note however, that unless you are having one of the below issues that needs to be fixed, there is no reason to update the firmware:

a. Samsung/LG Blu-Ray player audio bitstream
b. HDMI-CEC bugs
c. Multi-zone audio
d. Loss of audio when using HDMI-DVI adapter/cable to older DVI TV
e. Crackling noise on surround back speakers during playback of DTS-HD-MSTR 6.1 disc.
f. No audio heard from sub when MultEQ is engaged.
g. No audio when HDMI source initially selected unless another surround mode (eg. STEREO, 5-CH STEREO, etc.) is selected and then the original surround mode (eg. STD) is selected again.
h. When pressing the MUTE button, the "MUTE" text on the display will not go away when using the Volume UP/DOWN buttons
i. No HD audio heard when using Samsung BD-C6900
j. Audio dropouts from the Star Wars: The Complete Saga BD series (Episodes IV and VI)
