Right now, I have the CX earc port connected into the main hdmi of my AVR. All my sources, including my pc and ps4 pro, are connected to the CX. I'm not using any of the other receiver hdmi ports. Is this how it should be or do I run my sources through the AVR instead? Does it even matter? I also get Atmos from the TV apps through the receiver. This setup sounds like what Earc is made to do. I'm probably not getting its full features because my AVR doesn't have 2.1 ports. But if this is the correct setup, I should be good to go.
The disadvantage to this setup is if any of your sources tries to use DTS, CX/GX will not pass DTS through anymore.

Hello, I have a quick question :

Is there any advantage to use the eARC port if I plan to :

Device --> AVR --> TV ?

Cheers

[edit] it seems with eARC I don't need an extra cable to the tv --> receiver for audio if I get it right ?
This works as long as the device is not trying to use a 2.1 feature that the AVR cannot support.

The TV will control the receiver and let you select which device on the receiver you want to work:

Okay, thanks. DTS is not that important to me, even though my receiver supports DTS X. But I still might try having the AVR control all the sources. Other than not getting DTS, is my current setup preferred or is having the AVR do most of the processing the best way to go. I would think the TV being its more current and powerful.

Info Button?

Is there a way, with the LG CX remote, to show an OSD with info? Like audio and video stats?

Most specifically, I'm wanting to see if a 4K/24p output from a player is what is being input to the TV? vs if it is displaying some other resolution or frame rate.

Thanks!

It's not detachable
Well it's not meant to be detached but if you unscrew the cover plate you can detach the power cord easy enough. Not sure how you would go about finding a longer/shorter cord (if that's what you want to do) with the same connection type as it seems to be proprietary or at least not a typical household type connection no matter where you live.

Hey have any calibrators debunked the myth that the CX is dimmer than the C9 now and that RTINGs/Vincent's samples were just down to probably panel variation?

For the set's i've calibrated so far, some are in the high 600 nit range similar to what Vincent measured on his set and quite a few are well over 700 nits so i'm not sure you can say the 2020 OLEDs are not as bright as the 2019's. Also if you buy a C9/E9 in 2020 it will have the new panel and have the same nit ranges as the 2020 OLEDs. This is just what i have seen, mostly panel variation in my opinion.

Also, as you pointed out, you need someone with reference equipment to give feedback because your peak luminance reading can be way off if your meter isn't profiled correctly.

CNET's CX panel also measured dimmer than their C9. So that would make it panel variation for RTINGs/Vincent's/CNET's samples

Press the ... button. On the sidebar that pops out, select Information under TV functions. This will display a banner with sound and display detail. Hold press the back button to close it. You can also press the blue button to relocate the banner on the screen.

I’ve experienced some bright scenes where I turn away immediately because it’s to bright. I’ve seen others have experienced this too.

Just got the call that my 48" has arrived at my local dealer (Video Only)!
I went and picked it up yesterday afternoon, and installed it last night right where the 12+ year old Philips 42" had been (same mount). The 48" really is a new market enabler, as width measurements of the 55" would have it sticking out over the door to the bathroom.

Out of box, skin tones etc are very good (the cell phone photo doesn't do it justice). I'll pull out my Discus and i1Pro2 at some point to see where it really lands. Really pleased with intelligibility of speech from the built in speakers too.

BTW for anyone in the area, Video Only in Bellevue already has the 48" on the floor on demo.

Excellent!

However, I'm not seeing a frame rate or refresh rate for the input. Is that expected?

Thanks

Sorry, you are correct. Resolution, and if it is progressive or not, but no framerate. For that you can refer to the diagnostic menu from Post #3.
Q: The 2020 series have the same Host/HDMI diagnostics menu as the 2019 series?
The Information OSD does include the following signal information: Aspect Ratio, Resolution(progressive/interlaced), Color Space, HDR Type, Audio Type

I find it useful.
