So am I the only one that is returning their CX for a C9? Curious about the general consensus of CX owners after HDMI-gate.
I'd wager you will be in the minority, but far from the only one.

Sorry for the likely basic question, but since this is my first high-end TV, I want to treat it to some high end sound. A full receiver/surround system isnt viable for me, so I am looking at a soundbar.

Here is my issue/question. I have all 4 HDMI ports on the CX filled (cable tv, ps4, switch, shield)

In order for me to use a soundbar, am I correct in I need to find one that has a passthrough in it? Otherwise, I wouldnt be able to use earc/arc and have to settle for optical?

So, I would plug one hdmi from the soundbar to the earc port on the cx, and then have one of my 4 devices (likely shield for atmos) going in through the sound bar?

So, I would HAVE to get something like this, right? If there is no passthrough, then I would need to remove and not use one of my plugged in devices? Or, would I have to get an HDMI splitter? Would that screw anything up anywhere?

I have never owned a sound bar before, so this is all new to me. Thanks in advance
Have you considered running a 3.1 system with a receiver?

I'm keeping my CX. I have too many pluses than minuses to give it up. I'm not a pc gamer im a console gamer so that part is irrelevant to me and I don't have it in me at this point to roll the dice on the lottery right now because I would be extremely pissed trading this perfectly fine cx in for a c9 which could have nasty uniformity and then that would lead to me not only dreading returning my cx and now looking to find a uniform c9 No Bueno [emoji23]

I havent no...I wanted to opt for simplicity, and I am a bit limited by space around the TV, as well as my 8 month old being upstairs from the TV room. I wasnt even going to get a soundbar with a sub (as well as monetary constraints...contradictory, i know i just bought a 65CX)

I know if I get a receiver it will solve all of my HDMI port issues, but specifically for a sound bar, its probably not possible for me to get one unless it has a passthrough, correct?

Yeah, I am an obsessive person with stuff...my Q8FN had DSE which drove me insane whenever i used the TV...I cant unsee something once I see it...I wanted to avoid watching a panel uniformity video on youtube knowing how I am, but last night I did, and the 65CX panel I have is flawless. I literally see nothing but gray on the screen on all shades.

My C9 comes today...and I admit it was a bit of a heat of the moment overreaction on my part (i am a console gamer only as well)

Due to the clean CX panel I have, I may just not open the C9 at all, and return it to the store. I have to weigh the potential can of worms I am possibly opening vs being happy for once and not being a lunatic....

Ummm, ok. I was asking specifically about the cables I linked to...

Off topic, but my setup requires I use flexible and thin HDMI cables. I see people mentioning that the cables should say something about premium / high speed / ethernet / have the HDMI ORG's QR code. Anyone using these Monoprice cables with working 10 / 12 bit, 4:4:4 output from an Apple TV 4K, PS4 Pro. and / or ultra BD-player?

I got my 65CX, but haven't had much time to play with it yet. Been nervous to pull the clear film off the screen as well lol.
I am using these on all 4 of my cx inputs, no issues at all, and super thin and flexible. Before that they were on my qled, again, no issues

I don't see why Optical is considered a "settle" option. It should work as well as HDMI pass-through.
Yes you could use the earc port to pass the audio back to the soundbar, but in the past the LG OLED has had issues with earc working well, and several owners stopped using it and went to Optical.

Both of those soundbars have HDMI pass-through so they would work in that mode. Yes you would hook one device to the sound bar, and the soundbar to the earc HDMI port on the CX.

You do not need an HDMI splitter.

I'm keeping my CX and I'm a PC gamer along with both consoles. Quite frankly I don't want to deal with the hassle and the screen uniformity seems perfect to me. It's admittedly a bit of a roll of the dice, but I am hopeful that the 30 series Nvidia cards will support 10 bit color. I know based on the RTX cards there isn't any evidence that points that way, but since it seems like a lot of the HDMI 2.1 tvs this year have 40 gbps ports that Nvidia will notice and support 10 bit color. Maybe I'm dumb or naive, but if it comes to it I've been fine with 8 bit RGB with my current graphics card and I probably will be if that's what I have to use with a 30 series card.

Awesome, thanks so much for confirming this. Have a great weekend!

Hooked mine up last night... that smell.... that smelly smell... that smelly smell.... that smells....

Damn, hope it goes away after a while.
Did you remove the plastic from the front and back of the screen?

got my CX 2 weeks ago and I couldn't care less about the 40gbps stuff. I'm not a PC gamer though and the primary reason I chose this TV was for next gen consoles

Hello everyone,

It's been a while since I been here. but I know allot of people on here know there stuff. So I'm in the market to get 2 new TV's

First when does the OLED48CX6LB-LG CX 48 inch 4K Smart OLED TV get released. I need it for the kids room. I was thinking about the 55' but not sure with there room size how it would be with the heat from the TV. I had a temporary 65 in there and it was way to big and kinda made the room little warm with it being on all day. It was a thinner panasonic. But i want to jump all into the LG family. Is it worth waiting for the 48' compared to just getting the 55'. 55' would fit but 48 would be a perfect fit.

Now on for my. Im going all GX- And i will be using it for a gaming ,movie and for a second computer screen. My current desk can hold a 55'. But with those who own a 65' is there a field of view lose if i don't get a 65 inch. I know its more a preference but i guess im used to 55inch screen. But will I enjoy game play more if i get a bigger screen and for movies.

Thank you for your help ahead of time.

PC Master Racist here and I'm currently trying to return my CX. Dealer flat out refused since the return windows has passed, but LG hasn't given a final answer yet.

If Nvidia adds 4:4:4 10 bit over HDMI along the way, I might repurchase later or just wait another year.

The only reason im considering returning and getting a C9 is because LG got rid of dts and wont allow dts passthrough via earc. If i wouldve known that before I bought it I wouldve gone with the C9. Very upsetting that LG didnt let us know that DTS was removed completely, passthrough and all
